Full name: Molly’s Imaginary Summer Book Club Featuring Classics of Women’s Literature Defined As Books Authored By, About or Widely Read By Women in the 20th Century, yes this is still a thing!
This year’s titles are….
Stella Dallas By Olive Higgins Prouty: I’ve wanted to do this one for a long time, and now it is finally (well, recently) back in print!
Every Secret Thing By Patty Hearst: I know Charles Manson is everywhere this summer, but instead we’re going to revisit another pop-culture-crime-story of the era.
A Long Fatal Love Chase By Louisa May Alcott: an alternative definition of a Lost Classic.
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? By Henry Farrell: and finally, this is where we’ll end up around Halloween.
As usual, we’ll be looking at the filmed adaptations along the way- although I hope not just the usual filmed adaptations. MYSTERIOUS FORESHADOWING.
Excited about the Louisa May Alcott book! I love her thrillers, and I think the story of how they were discovered is so cool! I will have to re-read this one as I haven’t read it in a very long time. My favorite is Behind the Mask.
Yay! I haven’t read this one, but several people have told me it’s great! Hope you’ll re-read along with us 🙂
